In addition to private parties, the Palladium is
host to a number of Special Events to which the general public is invited;
many guests are alerted through our mailing list, which you are welcome
to join.
Each Spring, the Palladium takes part in Philadelphia's
The
Book and the Cook festival, an opportunity for
cookbook authors to join up with local restaurants. The Palladium has presented
such authors as Claudia Rodin (Middle Eastern cuisine), Jay Solomon (Caribbean),
Carol and Bill Jamison (Southwestern and Barbeque), and mystery writer-restaurant
owner-food critic Lou
Jane Temple.
In addition , The Palladium, in cooperation with
the International House in Philadelphia, has sponsored "food and film"
events, featuring such memorable film classics as "Babette's Feast,"
"Like Water for Chocolate," "Eat Drink Man Woman," and
"Big
Night." As far as we know, we are the only
restaurant in the entire country to host this many food and film events.
The Palladium also participates in the local University
City "Third Thursday" celebrations, which highlights the attractions
of Philadelphia's "Left Bank." On the third Thursday of every
month from September through May, we offer dinner and drink specials. There
are frequently other "neighborhood specials" in the University
City area, news of which can be found in the local University City Weekly
Press.
There are many events at the University of Pennsylvania
which create additional excitement at The Palladium. In particular are Penn's
Parent's Weekend and Homecoming in the Fall, highlighted by football games
at Franklin Field, one of the best football stadiums in the country (Oct
23 and Oct 30 this year), and Penn Alumni-Graduation Weekend in the Spring
(May 19-22, 2000). In addition, Penn's basketball team regularly does well
in the Ivy League, and the annual game with Princeton is always a big draw. |
